It’s been 23 years since Madonna last performed in Australia and she blew me away with such an incredible show!
From the moment Madonna dropped down from above in a cage to when she was whisked away ‘Mary Poppins’ like, she commanded the audience and the stage.
We (the photographers) had our spot behind the sound desk half way up the first rise at the back of the stadium. I’m not good at guessing distance but I guess about 10m (approx 30ft) from the closest part of the stage to about 50m (approx 150ft) to the main stage. Usually I hate the Front Of House (sound desk) position but for this show, our spot was the perfect place to capture the essence of the show.
For those of you who know me personally, Madonna is not on my list of favourite artists. I’ve always had a kind of respect for her with what she has achieved and how she always pushes the boundaries but I never really loved the music. I got to photograph her first Rebel Heart show in Melbourne Australia and I can now see why she is the Queen of Pop.
